Jazz Rock

Jazz-Rock was developed in the late 1960's and early 1970's, when musicians would fuse rock elements with jazz elements to create an absolute bop. Rock bands such as Blood, Sweat and Tears, Chicago and The Mothers on Invention were what really gave the genre of music a sound.

Plenty of important record labels have specialised in Jazz-Rock as they made such a large impact on the radios.

Characteristics of this music often included bass lines, drumming styles and instrumentation of rock instruments (e.g. Electric Guitar, Keyboard). It's often coming from rock songs with jazz incorporated into it.

Jazz Rock bands/artists include:
- Blood, Sweat and Tears
- Chicago
- Miles Davis
- Herbie Hancock

Impacts Jazz-Rock had on music was instrumentation and the encouragement of usage of traditionally jazz instruments (e.g. saxophones, clarinet).

It is a Homophonic piece of music - the vocalist and trumpet perform the melodies.

The structure of the song starts with and intro, then verse 1, pre-chorus 1, chorus, verse 2, pre-chorus 2, chorus, bridge, chorus and outro.

Dynamics
The song is mildly loud. It's never really too quiet. I'd give this song a mezzo-forte out of ten.

Tone Colour and Expressive Techniques
It's a grand, boujee and warm piece of music. The organs give it a cozy feeling in the verse. However in the pre-chorus, the use of volume and different shaped sounds of the same instrumentation give it a more bright feeling.
